Frequently Asked Questions
How do I apply for the NDIS?
To apply for the NDIS, you must meet specific eligibility criteria, including having a permanent disability that significantly impacts your daily life, being under 65 years of age at the time of application, and being an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Special Category visa holder. If you’re not currently receiving NDIS support but wish to apply, call the NDIS on 1800 800 110 to request an Access Request Form.
What is Support Coordination?
Support Coordination is an NDIS service that helps you make the most of your plan. A Support Coordinator works with you to understand your plan, connect with the right services, and navigate the NDIS system. They help manage service agreements, resolve challenges, and build your confidence to independently coordinate your supports over time. At Mora Disability, our goal is to make your NDIS journey simple, effective, and empowering.
Who can access Support Coordination?
Support Coordination is funded when it’s deemed reasonable and necessary for your needs. This funding allows a Support Coordinator to help you connect with services and make the most of your plan. Check your plan or speak to your NDIS planner—we’re also happy to help you understand it.
What is Psychosocial Recovery Coaching?
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching is a service designed to support participants with a psychosocial disability. Our Recovery Coaches work alongside you to create personalised, recovery-focused plans and help you achieve your goals. They’ll connect you with mental health services, build your resilience, and empower you to take control of your recovery. This service is all about helping you feel confident, independent, and supported on your journey to long-term well-being.
Who receives Recovery Coach Funding?
Recovery coach funding is typically included in NDIS plans for individuals with psychosocial support needs. However, choosing a recovery coach is entirely optional—if you feel it’s not the right fit for you, you’re not obligated to include one in your plan.
What is Psychosocial Disability?
Psychosocial disability happens when a mental health condition interacts with social or environmental barriers, affecting your ability to fully participate in daily life. It can result from conditions like depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, personality disorders, eating disorders, and substance use disorders.
What is the difference between Support Coordination and Psychosocial Recovery Coaching?
Support Coordination is about helping you navigate the NDIS—connecting you with services, managing providers, and building your confidence to use your plan independently. On the other hand, Psychosocial Recovery Coaching is designed specifically for participants with a psychosocial disability. It focuses on supporting your mental health and recovery. While both services empower you, Recovery Coaching places a stronger focus on mental health and personal growth.
Can my NDIS plan include both a Support Coordinator and a Recovery Coach?
Depending on your plan or situation you may choose to have both. Your NDIS budget allows flexibility to use both Support Coordination and Recovery Coaching if they are funded in your plan.
What's the difference between Level 2 and Level 3 Support Coordination?
Level 2 helps you implement and manage your plan day-to-day, connecting you with providers and building your confidence over time. Level 3 is for more complex, high-risk, or crisis circumstances, and is typically more intensive and time-limited. Your plan can include both if your circumstances change.
Do you offer support in languages other than English?
Yes. Our team is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, bridging cultural and linguistic barriers so Chinese families and other culturally and linguistically diverse communities can access the NDIS with confidence.
What areas do you service?
Mora Disability is based in Sydney's Northern Suburbs and Hills District, and provides Support Coordination and Psychosocial Recovery Coaching across all of Sydney, including surrounding areas such as Castle Hill, Carlingford, Baulkham Hills, and Kellyville.
